DeVito Gets First Crack at Makin' Whoopi on "View"

Danny DevitoTMZ has exclusively learned that the first guest on the season premiere of "The View" will be none other than that limoncello-swillin' fluffer-lover himself, Danny DeVito.

DeVito will be visiting the new "View" on Sept. 4, which will also be Whoopi Goldberg's first day in the moderator's seat. His last appearance, of course, followed a night of boozy debauchery (and seven limoncellos) with pal George Clooney, and led to one of the more classically nonsensical talk-show-guest appearances in recent history, full of Three Stooges references and plenty of bleeped-out banter.

Of course, DeVito made out pretty well after his limonization -- he ended up starting his own line of limoncellos this year, called Danny DeVito's Premium Limoncello. No word on whether the green room will be stocked with the tart beverage.

We're also told that "The View's" first week will include appearances by Clive Owen, Regis Philbin, Larry David, and Rachael Ray.

61. Danny DeVito gave birth to a new kind of American actor. Without good looks, or height, he comes across as a man in charge of his own life, with a wife and children who evidently adore him. I watch the View only occasionally, but have always admired Ms. Walters. Her co-hosts are sometimes questionable, but Joy is a woman of reality. I dislike the childlike voice of Elisabeth, although I think her intelligence comes through sometimes.
Whoopi, I love.........being English, my humour is somewhat dry.........as is hers.

62. Wow, Whoppi...should be VERY interesting. She is very funny.
Joy is "a joy" and very funny.
Liz H. never shuts up - and seems to live in a dream world, so I wonder if she and Whoppi will clash.
I would prefer Rosie over Liz H.
Lots of people disliked Rosie, but I respect her honesty.

65. The View. Television's showcase of blubbering idiots with meaningless opinions.

67. I agree totally with Pat (No. 8). Since Rosie left, I haven't watched the View much, so I did not see Danny DeVito on the show. And, as Pat said, Joy is the only one that makes the show interesting. From what I heard, the View knew he was in the drunken position, but yet they still let him go on. What does that tell you? They like the ratings they get when something like this happens. Rosie and Elizabeth's little disagreement raised the ratings up a lot. This is "show business" guys and gals. If you don't like it, don't tune in. Lily Rose

68. I hope Whoppy can bring back some fun to the view. Joy has kept it going the best she can but working with a nothing like Elizabeth does not make it easy. Barbara tries her best but does not have enough to help Joy keep it going. Good luck Whoppy & Joy.

70. Dearest S, Was that a rebuttal? You were as rambling as any of the other blatherers, I mean posters. Your comments couldn't have been directed at me, because I didn't state anything you were referring to.

As for Rosie, I used to love her talk show. She was warm, funny and GRACIOUS. She seems to have lost her warmth and any ability she had to be gracious on the View. She was still pretty funny, but her sarcasm just got too biting.

With respect to tweety, I agree in general with your sentiments about kindness to others. My remarks to Kathy are not directed at her persona, rather at her idiotic comments. I do not know her, but I know what she said. Also, just because my views are somewhat liberal, you shouldn't assume I am not wealthy. I actually fit into the conservative profile (tax bracket, white, Texan, Christian, etc.), but am not actually a conservative.

71. First of all, just let me say that Whoopie is a BIG FAT MISTAKE. The View was great with Rosie and now Whoopie and DeVito, really, makes no sense. Joy and Elizabeth I give a thumbs up but that's about it.

72. I can not believe that the network even picked the show up for another season, without Rosie it is Crap, except of course Joy, but the damage that the Survivor girl does not even Joy can save.

74. How could you stoop so low as to put little vulgar mouth on your show? Didn't he do enough the last time?
We want to hear something fresh and new....not a drunk has-been. Well, whoopteedo over whoopi. That should have been your last choice. You need a new face with new ideas. Don't think I can watch it any more. Blah

75. Thanks for Elizabeth on the show as she gives it balance for the rest of us.
